If you are planning a trip to the beautiful hills of Mizoram, one of the first questions that comes to mind is: How do you reach Aizawl?
Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, is located on steep ridges in the Lushai Hills at an average elevation of approximately 1,132 meters (3,714ft) above sea level. While it may feel remote, reaching Aizawl today is much easier than before. Travelers can arrive by train, flight, or bus, depending on their budget, time, and travel preference.
In this guide, I’ll explain all three ways to reach Aizawl so that you can choose the option that suits you best.

Sairang lies about 22 kilometers from Aizawl and sits at an elevation of roughly 150 meters above sea level. From the station, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours by road to reach the city.
